Now you no need to leave Gmail to search Google for answers for the questions you receive over chat or email. Previously you have to leave Gmail to search Google for an answer, then you have to select answer, copy it, go back to Gmail and paste the answer into the chat window or reply message.

The new Google Search experiment in Gmail Labs, you can search right in Gmail and with just one click send answer over chat or by mail.

Enable Google Search feature in Gmail Labs.

Now you’ll see a new search box on the left side of your inbox as shown in the graphic below.

Type your search and hit enter. A window (like a chat window, but a bit bigger) appears at the bottom of your screen with the first few search results.

If you click on search result, it will open in a new window or tab. If it is the right result for you, just move your mouse over the result back in Gmail reveals a pull-down menu that lets you do stuff with the search result.

The menu items depends on what you’re doing in Gmail:

If you’re reading a message, you can start a reply to the message with the search result as the first thing in your reply.

If you’re writing a message, you can paste the result, or just the URL into your message.

If you’re chatting with someone, you can send the result via chat.

You can also always compose a new message to send the search result.

You can turn on Navbar drag and drop in Labs so they can move the web search box up to the top where it’s easy to get to, said Adam.

Google Similar Images allows you to search for images using pictures rather than words. Check how you can search similar images to the existing result just by clicking on Similar Images link.

Google launched their 20 percent time project working version Google Similar Images. Some times it is very difficult to find the right image using Image Search tool if you can’t describe it in words.

The new Similar Images feature will help you to over come this. With this feature you can now find images similar to existing result by just clicking on ‘similar images‘ link. Google Similar Images allows you to search for images using pictures rather than words.

For example just search for ‘’ nano “ and check for “Similar Images”. The Image Search result “nano” shown in the graphic below. It shows two different type of results. One is TATA nano car and Other is Apple iPod nano.

If you click on Similar Images link on bottom of the nano car, you will get only nano car similar images in the result. Its shown in the graphic below.

And if you click on Similar Images link on bottom of iPod nano, you will get only iPod nano similar images in the result.

Learn more about ‘Similar Images’ from the following video tour.

How accurate is this Google Similar Images feature?

Ajay said “ what is so apple about these chairs? “

This Similar Image Search is introduced long back in Live Search. And one more thing is you can restrict image search to a particular color. see the graphic below.

For example to know the status of British Airways flight number BA15, just enter ba15 or type flight status ba15 in live search box and hit. You will see complete details of the flight status.

Update: Microsoft call it as Active Answers, a new method of retrieving up-to-the-minute data from the Web. To help with your air travel information needs, their first Active Answer release is for flight status.

The result is shown in the graphic below for flight status ba15 search on Live.

Google added two new improvements to Google Resutls page. Which help users to get better idea what to pick from results pages.

Today Google added two new improvements to Google Search results pages. The First one offers an expanded list of useful related searches and the second is the addition of longer search result descriptions. New Improvements help users to get better idea what to pick from results pages.

More and better search refinements

This new technology can better understand associations and concepts related to your search, and one of its first applications lets Google offer you even more useful related searches.

For example, if you search for principles of physics, new Google algorithms understand that angular momentum, special relativity, big bang and quantum mechanic are related terms that could help you find what you need. Related terms will display at bottom generally and some times at the top of search results. See the graphic below.

Longer snippets

Google Search gives results with a dark blue title and is followed by a few lines of text (called snippet ), which together give you an idea of what each page is about. To give more context, the snippet shows how the words of your query appear on the page by highlighting them in bold.

For Longer queries, the queries having more than three words, regular length snippets may not give you enough information and context. To avoid this Google now increased the number of lines in the snippet to provide more information.

Both new improvements help guide users more effectively to the information they need, said by Ori Allon and Ken Wilder, Google Engineers.

Now you can restrict the results of Google Image Search based on their color. This option is not yet available in advanced search, But you can use for example, "imgcolor=green" as a parameter in the URL.

If you restrict the imgcolor parameter to green, you will get images which are mainly green in the results. For example search for apple and restrict the results to green, then you will see only green apples in the results.

Try this new feature by using this sample drop-down.

http://images.google.com/images?q=apple&imgcolor=green gives green apples as shown in the graphic below.

Thanks Ionut Alex for developing the sample dropdown and the information.

Stop your boss recording your Google Search Queries.

At work place we do search Internet related to our work. Its fine when your boss snooping on your search quires if you do work related search on Google. But its a problem if you do other than your work related search.

Generally we do some other activities in the office other than the work. No need to stop your search on Google which is not related to your office work. Here is the simple trick.

Google appends the search queries to the Google URL with out encryption as shown in the graphic below. Because of this your boss caught you.

The problem is solved if Google dose not show your search queries on URL. But Google does not. If you indirectly search on Google, Your boss can not get you.

Do search on www.americanlandmarkfence.com its a exact replica of Google Search. Now you are prevented from your boss. Do search on Google what ever you want.
