Microsoft officially unveiled the latest version of its mobile operating system windows mobile 6.5 at mobile world congress 2009. The new OS featured useful enhancements, back up and restore service, improved mobile web browser and an application store. The big difference you can observe in Windows Mobile 6.5 is the user interface.

In first glimpse you can observe its new look. Screens looks like iPhone. The new software follows Microsoft’s pattern of replicating their PC operating system for a small handheld device, though with a more flashy appearance.

As Microsoft design their products as user friendly, you can see more user friendly features in windows mobile 6.5. You can set a home screen with relevant information. My phone service offers you to back up your phone’s information to a password protected web service. Even when the laptop is turned off or in standby mode accessory card in the laptop can connect to owner’s BlackBerry phone to download e-mail’s. When the ThinkPad boots up, the new email will already be loaded. And no need to establish internet connection to download email iin the laptop.

The user will also be able to send e-mail from the ThinkPad through the BlackBerry without an additional Internet connection.

The "Lenovo Constant Connect" card will let users combine the always-on nature of the BlackBerry with the larger keyboard and screen of the laptop, said Rick Cheston, executive director at Lenovo. For instance, a traveler could flip open the laptop to do some quick e-mailing at an airport layover, rather than spending time to set up Internet access, he said.

The card connects to a BlackBerry through the Bluetooth wireless technology. When the computer is off, the card stores new e-mail in flash memory. It is already possible to connect a computer to the Internet through Bluetooth feature of some phones, But here computer should be turned on.

The card will cost $150 or less. Initially it will work only with Microsoft Corp.’s Outlook e-mail client, but Lenovo is working on supporting IBM Corp.’s Lotus Notes as well.

Seadragon is a slick photo viewer with a browsing capability that handles a large number of photos on a mobile device screen.

Microsoft’s Live Labs division developed the app. Seadragon Mobile is released for iPhone, even before making it available for Microsoft’s own mobile platform. The application is free to download at Apples App Store. It allows a user to quickly magnify a particular area of a photo, regardless of its size with its Deep Zoom feature.

The aim of the application is to let users view even wall sized images on mobile device regardless of the bandwidth.
