Microsoft announced this free anti-virus with code name Morro during November 2008. And later its name changed to Microsoft Security Essentials.

And its Beta version id available to download, but for few countries and regions only. Don’t worry If the download is not available in your country. You can get Microsoft Security Essentials here.

Microsoft is conducting a contest called path of illumination contest on msn. The contest is about Angels and Demons movie. Microsoft launches Answers Beta, a new website just for windows vista users. You can get answers to your questions in three ways.

• You can search for existing answers to your questions.
• Browse specific category pages under Find Answers.
• Ask the Community how to solve your problem.

This is a great place for vista users to solve their vista related problems. Having a Official forum run by professionals from Microsoft is a good idea. You can subscribe to forum and to your questions and get notified via email, RSS or your browser when there is a new answer.

The free anti-virus, code-named ” Morro “, will be available in the second half of 2009. Morro, will provide protection from malware including viruses, spyware, rootkits and trojans.

As Microsoft offering free security service, Its paid security service Windows Live OneCare will be phased out and will discontinue retail sales of Windows Live OneCare subscription service beginning June 30, 2009.
