How secure is your Web Browser?
We use browsers to explore the web world. When using web services, we usually submit our valuable and sensitive information to get access to those services like email, bank account, trading account and more. If some one get these sensitive information it will be a problem for us.
We use different browsers to get into the web. If there are any loop holes or vulnerabilities in browsers, then its easy to attack. So, we have to look at the web browsers that how secure they are.
Microsoft’s Internet Explorer is still leader even it has lost the market share. IE has many significant security features and enterprise options. As IE is the most popular and complex browser, it has more chances to get attacks.
Mozilla’s popular browser Firefox is rich in user friendly features and it has the wide variety of third party add-ons. But Firefox is short on granular security controls.
Opera web browser is rich in both features and granular security controls, but misses the important windows protections.
Google’s web browser Chrome is very high in security. It follows a excellent security model. But we cannot disable java script. JavaScript is involved with most malicious Web attacks. Another critical security feature that’s missing is the ability to place different Web sites into separate security zones or domains.
IE has had at least 70 announced vulnerabilities over the last two years. Firefox3.0 has 39 vulnerabilities in last six months. Opera 9.x has seen 45 in two years. Apple’s Safari and Google’s Chrome have 26 and 10 announced vulnerabilities respectively.
So its very important we have to take care of what we are browsing in a web browser.
