Guide: Recover your Gmail password via text message
Google recently improved Google Account password recovery to give users more security over their account. Recovering passwords is one of the top reasons people visit the Gmail Help Center, So, to give more convince in this situations, Google added the ability to recover your password via text message.
Now you cannot recover your password by answering a security question, After hitting the password recovery they will send instructions to your secondary email address, you can initiate password recovery from there. If you are unable to access your secondary email address then you need to wait 24 hours to recover password by answering your security question. To over come the accessing problems of secondary email addresses Google added password recovery via text message. Just add your mobile number to your password recovery options and they will send password recovery instructions to your secondary email address as well as they will send a recovery code through SMS.
To turn on this feature for your account, sign in to your Google Account and Click on ‘Change Password Recovery Options,’ You will see the page as shown in the graphic below.
Now click on “Add a mobile phone number“, then enter your cell phone number and click ‘Save.’ Its Done. see the graphic below.
Now, if you forget your password just enter your username on the password assistance page and hit submit, then Google will text you a recovery code. Just enter the code and hit “submit recovery code” to recover your password. See the graphic below.
