Moving From FeedBurner to Google – a Guide
Google acquired FeedBurner long back. Now Google is asking FeedBurner users to move to Google Account. After login to your FeedBurner account,you will see a message ” Your FeedBurner account and all your feeds should move to Google“.
Why you should move?
The Google answer is
- FeedBurner’s new features will only appear in Google Accounts.
- Adsense for feeds only works with Google Accounts.
- Soon, Burned feeds will work only if they are hosted on Google.
So, In order to have all new features for your feeds, you should move to Google. With above answers you can see a following note, that states FeedBurner’s Site Stats are not supported in Google Accounts. And we encourage you to try Google Analytics for website statistics. You can see all the above in the following graphic.
You no need to move now, but you need to move later. It is better to move now. To move your FeedBurner account to Google account just click on Move my account now button ( shown in the above graphic).
In the second step you have to select to which Google account you want to move, If you do not have one, you have to create a new Google Account.
Then Click on Next button.
In the next step you have to click on Move Feeds button to move your feeds from Feedburner to Google Account.
It will take a while to move your feeds.
Now you a success message displays stating that your feeds are successfully moved to Google account. Now to view and manage your feeds by logging in at Google account.
Now click on Continue to FeedBurner button.
If you are using MyBrand and custom-domain service you have to make an important change to ensure your feeds remain available to subscribers.
In the next step enter your custom-domain and click on save button in the bottom ( shown in the above graphic).
Now go to http://feedburner.google.com and login with your Google account which is used for moving from Feedburner.
Now you can see a welcome message, then click on continue.
Now you are able to view and manage feeds, the interface is same, difference is you moved to Google.
