Know more about your GMail
The features listed below are known by many of you. But still most of GMail users do not know about these features.
> Two GMail addresses
Every GMail user get email address like digisteps@gmail.com a regular one. To your surprise you automatically get the second email address as digisteps@googlemail.com.
Here all emails that are sent to digisteps@googlemail.com will also be delivered to digisteps@gmail.com . You can use both the addresses. Use @gmail.com for public and keep @googlemail.com for personal so that you can manage your personal emails effectively.
> GMail Plus Addressing
GMail plus addressing is a very useful trick to keep away your GMail mailbox from spam. If you get spammed, you can easily know which website or service leaked your email address to spammers.
I have GMail address digisteps@gmail.com. If I append Plus sign to email username, GMail will ignore anything written between the + and @ sign.
Any email messages sent to digisteps+blog@gmail.com or digisteps+codes@gmail.com will reach digisteps@gmail.com inbox. But technically they are two different emails.
Gmail does not recognize characters after the PLUS symbol but the gmail search filter can distinguish between the different address and you can therefore redirect these email to separate gmail folders or apply different labels.
> Dots or Periods in GMail Username
GMail cannot recognize dots or periods in user names or email addresses. So digisteps@gmail.com is same as digi.steps@gmail.com or digi.ste.ps@gmail.com
By using above tricks you can make your GMail inbox spam proof and also easily manage emails from different sources or persons.

Hey – This is a fantastic insider tip
I think if you use this tip well, you can really stay very organised.
I use google apps, not sure if the same applies.
I really enjoyed reading your take on this new way of handling e-mail. I think you should check out OtherInbox, a new email service that fits right in line with what you are discussing.
With OtherInbox, each user receives their own domain name (username.otherinbox.com) and proceeds to give out personalized addresses to each site or service (amazone@username.otherinbox.com, etc.)
OtherInbox then automatically organizes these addresses, allowing the user to manage their email and, if necessary, block an address that is receiving too much spam.
It is currently in a private beta, but this URL will give you (and 25 of your readers) a chance to try it out.

Feel free to try the service out, and we look forward to finding out what you and your readers think.
Thanks!
